Why photogrpahy?
Ever since I stole my grandma's flip phone to take pictures, I have been fascinated with cameras. Years later, my dad got my mom a camera for her birthday that I immediately snatched and became obsesed with taking pictures of flowers in backyard.
I love being able to capture detail and moments that we may not see in passing glance. I have always loved the idea that photography can document things that may never exist again, and photos are the only way we may be able to feel and remember.
Why Ponderosa Pictures as my Business Name?
I have just recently discovered and researched the Ponderosa Pine Tree. Not only is the tree itself very beautiful with long needles and prickly pine cones, but I love that they can grow in harsh conditions, and have thick bark that protects them from wildfires and harsh weather. I think we can all draw the parallels to our own lives, challenges, and personal resilience.
Once I discovered and learned more about this beautiful pine tree and needed a more recognizable name for my business I KNEW that this was the name for me.
Dear BYU-Idaho...
I attribute most of my portfolio images to my job as Assistant University Photographer for BYU-Idaho. Working amongst such incredible mentors and leaders my time at BYU-Idaho has taught me valuable skills that I will carry through for the rest of my life. Thank you to BYU-Idaho for teaching me how to be a better artist, professional, and friend.
